Michelle first picked up a golf club at the age of 10. Her father, Anthony, introduced her to the game at their local driving range and it wasn’t long before Michelle had a strong love for the game. Growing up on the west coast of Ireland, Michelle had a very successful junior career, with her highest honor being named to the Irish International Team in 99 and 00.

In 2001 Michelle was offered a golf scholarship to play golf in America. She represented the Fighting Camels at Campbell University (N.C). At Campbell, Michelle earned a degree in Sports Management

Michelle opened her school, with Dan Shea, PGA, in Spring 2011 and has had tremendous success in growing Junior Golf in the Hampton Roads area. The School headquarters was based out of Cahoon Plantation in Chesapeake. From 2011 to 2018, Michelle and her team coached hundreds of kids at Cahoon Plantation. Sadly, Cahoon Plantation closed its doors in 2018. Since then, Michelle has had the opportunity to expand her school to two new locations; Lambert's Point Golf Club in Norfolk and Greenbrier Country Club in Chesapeake. A third location has been in operation at Kempsville Greens Golf Course for the past four years. Michelle is very excited about the new expansion and sees this as an opportunity to give more kids the chance to play golf.

The Michelle Holmes School of Golf mission is to “create experiences that encourage kids to want to play the game FOREVER”. Michelle is blessed with a wonderful team who dedicate their lives to growing the game of golf. Dan Shea is the Director Of Golf at MHSG - Greenbrier, Laura Holmes Landon is the Director Of Golf at MHSG - Kempsville, and Scott Gunzinski is the Director of Golf at MHSG - Lambert's Point.

Michelle Holmes School Of Golf runs approx. 80 junior golf tournaments locally per year. Michelle and her team run these events for Virginia State Golf Association, U.S Kids Golf, PGA Of America, and LPGA. Michelle directs the Virginia State Championships, Virginia Regional Championships, and both the Kids/Teen World Championships.

Michelle knows everyone is on a different journey and she is committed to finding the right journey, goals, and plans for your family.

Dan Shea

At the age of 13, Dan’ best friend, Julian Freeman, introduced him to the game of golf. Dan then convinced his parents to send him to a local summer golf camp. It was at this camp that Dan truly developed a passion for the game, which eventually led him to the Professional Golf Management program at Campbell University. Dan graduated from the PGA program at Campbell University with a Bachelor’s degree in Business Administration and was elected to PGA Membership in 2007.

Dan is a Co-Owner of Michelle Holmes School of Golf. Michelle and Dan began the school knowing they wanted to make a difference in each child’s life. Their mission is to create experiences that will encourage kids to play the game forever. Michelle Holmes School of Golf has grown to see over 500 juniors each year. This demand has led to the opening of three locations; MHSG @ Greenbrier CC, MHSG @Lambert’s Point GC, and MHSG @ Kempsville Greens GC. Dan is the Director of Instruction at MHSG – Greenbrier and also spends some time teaching at MHSG – Lambert’s Point.

Dan was the deserving recipient of the 2016 MAPGA Youth Development Award. In 2018, Dan was named one of U.S Kids Golf Top 50 Instructors.

Laura Landon

Director of Instruction - Michelle Holmes School of Golf - Kempsville Greens Golf Club

US Kids Golf Local Tour Director

Laura’s passion for golf started at a very young age. Picking up a club for the first time at 5 years old, she quickly discovered her love of the game. Laura grew up on the West coast of Ireland where she represented her school, province, and country at a high level. In 2006 Laura was recruited to play College Golf for Old Dominion University (Norfolk, VA). After 4 years of balancing Division 1 Golf and Academics, Laura graduated with a Degree in Sports Management.

Her love of teaching, over competing, was discovered when she interned at The Princess Anne Country Club in Virginia Beach. As an intern at the club, Laura had the opportunity to teach and work with many of their very successful junior classes, camps, and tournaments. After her internship was completed, Laura stayed at the club, entered the PGA Program and worked as The Director of Junior Golf.

After 4 successful years with The Princess Anne Country Club, Laura decided to go a different route with her teaching career. Laura’s sister, Michelle Holmes, LPGA, is the Director of Instruction at Michelle Holmes School of Golf. Michelle opened her school, with Dan Shea, PGA, in Spring 2011 and has had tremendous success in growing Junior Golf in the Hampton Roads area. In 2015, Michelle was offered the opportunity to expand her school to a second location. With Laura considering a change in the golf business, they all agreed that Laura would be a perfect fit to join the team by being the Director of Instruction at the second location, Kempsville Greens Golf Club, in Virginia Beach. Shortly after, Laura became a U.S Kids Certified Coach.

The Michelle Holmes School of Golf mission is to “create experiences that encourage kids to want to play the game FOREVER”. The MHSG Team live by this mission every day by providing a fun and inviting environment for Pee Wees and juniors of all ages.

Along with being a U.S Kids Certified Coach, Laura also took a position with U.s Kids Golf as a Local Tour Director for the Richmond area beginning in 2016. Most recently she became a director for the U.S Kids State Championship, U.S Kids Regional Championship and the U.S Kids World Championship.

Laura and her husband, Jason, live in Virginia Beach with their daughter Katie and son Jack.

Scott Guzinski

Growing up with two older brothers, Scott developed a passion for sports and becoming an athlete from a young age. He grew up in Cedarburg, Wisconsin where he spent the summers developing a passion and love for the game of golf with his Grandpa and spent the cold snowy winters skiing and snowboarding.
In 2011 his love for the game of Golf and the warm weather took me down to Orlando, Florida where he graduated from PGCC with a degree in Golf Management.  During his time in Orlando he gained valuable knowledge and experiences, along with lifelong friends that he will never forget.

After Graduating from school in Orlando Scott accepted a position as the Assistant Golf Professional at Shawnee Golf Course in Louisville, Kentucky.  During his time at Shawnee Golf Course his success with Junior Golf grew as he worked with Nike Junior Golf, Special Olympics of Kentuckiana, and The First Tee of Louisville.  After two years of being the Assistant Golf Professional, his passion for junior golf and positive growth of the game landed his a position as the full time certified Golf Instructor for The First Tee of Louisville.  Scott owes much of my success in Louisville to Craig Heibert, PGA and Kentucky Section Board member; Paul Schuchard, PGA and R.G Davis.
In 2015 Scott married his wife, Karen, who also shares as passion for working with kids as a middle school math teacher.  After teaching for ten years in Louisville, Kentucky she accepted a new job teaching middle school math at Moyock Middle School in North Carolina.

When Scott found out that they would be relocating to the Hampton Roads area he knew that he wanted the opportunity to continue teaching.  After a meeting with Dan about a position at Cahoon Plantation, he was invited to come back the next day and help Dan and Laura with the summer camp that was going on that week.  After watching their passion and dedication that day towards every student, he knew that they lived by the mission of Michelle Holmes School of Golf which is to create experiences that will encourage kids to play the game forever. A few days later after returning from the U.S Kids World Championship he had the great pleasure of finally meeting Michelle. Scott joined the team in 2016 and is an integral part of the operation living the mission every day. As of April 1st 2019, Scott is the Director of Instruction for Michelle Holmes School of Golf at Lambert’s Point.

“I’m truly thankful everyday that I get to work and learn along aside Michelle, Dan and Laura everyday”, Scott.
